Norm Hanover is an Associate Broker with Machoskie & Associates at Compass specializing in Sun City Palm Desert, and Sun City Shadow Hills, and gated 55+ communities. Norm has sold in many Coachella Valley cities, including Palm Springs, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage. Norm graduated from UCLA and Loyola Law School and served in the United States Air Force Reserve. He founded his law firm Hanover & Schnitzer, then merged with Reid & Hellyer in 2001 and became a Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Trustee and administered over 75,000 Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases and liquidated both personal property assets, as well as real property (homes, apartment buildings, and commercial real estate). As a Chapter 11 Trustee, he operated a wide variety of businesses, including five golf courses. Norm also completed the construction of a housing tract, and sold the homes after the build-out. He liquidated or restructured several restaurants, an ostrich farm, a 2000 acre asparagus farm, and several retail stores. Norm was the founder director and first president of the Inland Empire Bankruptcy Forum and a past president of the California Bankruptcy Forum, the statewide organization of Bankruptcy professionals, as well as a director and convention coordinator of the nationwide organization of Bankruptcy Trustees.
Today, in addition to being a realtor, Norm is a Mediator for the Bankruptcy Court of the Central District of California, hearing cases as assigned by the Court in an effort to resolve a dispute between debtors and creditors in an effort to avoid litigation. He earned his Real Estate Broker license in 2011, and has sold residential real estate in the Coachella Valley ever since. Norm’s extensive and diverse background gives him a unique perspective and skill set. He takes his fiduciary duty to his clients very seriously and always puts their needs first.
Known as “the Mayor” for his extensive local knowledge, when he isn’t selling real estate, Norm can be found spending time with his wife Marylou, their seven children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
