Hi John,
As agents, we walk a fine line between being a fiduciary to our clients, and delivering accurate, realistic information that some might find hard to accept. Someone once told me that houses were like babies. Everyone thinks theirs is the prettiest and more special than any other. Somehow as agents, we have to navigate the emotional aspects of selling and buying homes while being mindful that for most, this is the most significant asset people own.
Chris Smith is a 3x bestselling author, coach and Instagram sensation who often “says what agents wish they could.” I’ll share a few of my favorite quotes of his that are definitely in the “talking turkey” category for Sellers:

-What you spent
-What you hope for
Not what it’s worth.
Your home is worth what a buyer will pay TODAY. Not what your neighbor got last year, not what Zillow says, not what you ‘need’ to make your next move. The market sets the price, not your feelings about your kitchen renovation.
Chris is tough. But he’s right. I promise I’ll always tell it to you straight–but I’ll be gentle about it!
