Welcome to Laguna Beach
Laguna Beach is a coastal gem within Orange County. The word “Laguna”, translates in Spanish for “Lagoon,” and is referenced as a “Seaside Resort” and tourist destination. The “artist’s city” is known for its many art galleries, theaters, restaurants, coves and beaches which include famous surf spots, snorkeling, and hiking trails. Not to mention its mild year-round climate and scenic sunsets! According to the Encyclopedia of Surfing, Laguna Beach has a surfing history centered on a five-block stretch of rocky reefs between Brooks and St. Ann's Streets. Large annual events include the
Pageant of the Masters, Festival of Arts,
Sawdust Art Festival, Art-A-Fair, Bluewater Music Festival, and Kelpfest - which brings roughly 6 million tourists to the community each year. Fun-fact: Laguna Beach was Southern California’s epicenter of the ‘alternative
hippie culture’ in the 1960s and 1970s. The laid back, love-for-life attitude can still be felt today in the community, making it the 6th “Happiest Seaside Town” to live in - according to Coastal Living’s top 15 list.
Boundaries: Located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego within Orange County, Laguna Beach is perfectly situated on the stunning Southern California coast. South of Newport Beach’s Crystal Cove State Park, and North of Dana Point, Laguna Beach sits west of Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel.
